Would you like to take beginning Spanish lessons or improve your conversational skills? Are you looking for a school for Spanish courses close to you, in order to prepare for the Spanish test? Or, are you looking for inexpensive options and want to exchange lessons in Spanish for lessons in another language? Lessonfish.com operates as a clearing house for Spanish lessons around the world, as well as in Berlin, Paris, London, Madrid, Rome, Prague, New York, San Francisco, Mexico DF, Buenos Aires, Bejing or Tokio.

With the passage of the centuries persistent re-conquests of the Arab dominated parts of the Iberian Peninsula by Christians made the Castilians take an increasingly domination position. Castilian is originally a North-Spanish (primarily Cantabrian) dialect centred around Burgos and Santander. The Old Castilian language pushed itself like a wedge into the remaining Romanic linguistic region and forced out the other linguistic forms to the western (Asturian-Leone and Galician, from which Portuguese was developed subsequently) and eastern (Aragonese, Catalan) peripheries of the country, owing to which the region of the Castilian increased enormously. In the second half of the 11th century, Castilian was proclaimed a kingdom and Toledo was nominated the capital in 1085. In this manner, the Castilian dialect became the local and colloquial language of the young kingdom. After the unification of Castile and Aragón (1479), it became the national language of the Spanish kingdom. Spanish, as we know it today, is, in fact, an advanced development of the Latin-Castile dialect with a touch of Toledo.
